Germany soccer federation fined for tax evasion related to pre-2006 World Cup payment to FIFA
The German Football Association (DFB) has been fined € 11 million for tax evasion related to FIFA -World Cup 2006. The case concerns the transfer of € 6.7 million from DFB to FIFA in 2005, which was declared false as commercial expenses. The German authorities concluded that the payment was actually made to refund the loan from former Adida's CEO Robert Lewis-Drafus, with a view to securing votes for German World Cup verties dialect. The court decided that DFB incorrectly presented the purpose of payment, which resulted in the loss of tax revenue. The tax case has been investigated for years, the conviction ends without the boundary law with previously high -profile tests. While no persons were punished responsible in this decision, DFB is punished as an organization. The incident has once again highlighted the questions of governance in the processes that provide German football and FIFA controversial world prices.
