A Forgotten Cancer Is Surging in Young People, And Experts Are Puzzled : ScienceAlert
A rare and often unseen cancer called nasopharyinjial carcinoma (NPC), which affects the upper part of the neck behind the nose, and unexpectedly grows between young people, especially in America and Europe. Traditionally, in older adults of East Asian adults, an increase in NPC cases among young, non-Asian individuals has surprised experts. While the links to Epstein-Bar virus and environmental factors are known, the cause of an increase in the youth population is not clear. Researchers emphasize the need for better awareness, initial detection and further genetic, viral or lifestyle triggers.
