More about El Moudjahid newspaper: El Moudjahid is an Algerian newspaper in the French language. It was established during the Algerian War to inform FLN resistance combatants and became the FLN single-party newspaper after independence. The newspaper has been disallowed by the FLN since the election in 1991. Initially designed to be a FLN newsletter during the Algerian War between 1954 and 1962, the Moudjahid was published between resistance fighters. Its name means the "holy warriour" which the FLN called its warriors; it is a French transliteration of Arabic (Mujahid). Writing during his lifetime in the newspaper, a renowned author, activist and psychiatrist, Frantz Fanon.
