More about The Daily Republican newspaper : In 1824 Samuel Bowles founded the Daily Republican. The original aim was mainly political. The Republican National Party didn't have a body to combat federalism which was in remote cities like Springfield at the time its last standing. The Republican soon became one of the most respected and popular New England newspapers because of a significant proportion of his political comments. Bowles was considered as one of the country's great editors, although his enemies, of whom there were many, described him as tyrannical. Bowles said, on his deathbed,: "I might die, but The Republican would live." He would read Bowles today in the light of modern light as his careful technology.
