More about The Daily Republic newspaper: Fairfield, California's Daily Republic is a daily paper. The Daily Republic began as two journals?the Solano County Herald & the Solano Press. It was owned by McNaughton's Newspapers. In November 1855 the County Herald was established in Benicia. The first publication on 2 October 1858 brought it to Suisun City. The Daily Republic was the country's first journal to promote Abraham Lincoln as president. In 1862 the Solano Press was founded. The Herald & the Press were merged and renamed the Republican Solano seven years later.
