    More about The Daily Independent newspaper : It is a 7-day morning daily paper covering Ashland City & the surrounding regions of Boyd County, Kentucky. The daily is formerly known as Independent, and was also known from 2003 to 2015. The newspaper,established on 17th December 1896, was owned by the Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. The newspaper was transferred, in 1900, to 12th Street and Greenup Avenue, Ashland's Independent, Col. G.F. Friel, neighboring Catellesburg (Kentucky). The first posting was on 17 December[1], later on, when the Ashland Da was bought, the offices moved to 17th Street two years later.
