It was also released in the San Mateo Times over a 100 years before its sale in 1996. It had one of San Francisco City's first television columnists, Bob Foster, who covered the birth of the first San Francisco television station, KPIX, in December 1948. The Times provided coverage of news and sport in St. Mateo County. For many years Foster stayed on the employees covering TV and radio in the Bay Area. He has been an ongoing guest at radio shows in KGO.
