She won her first Pulitzer Award that same year for her photo coverage of the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. In 1989, it earned extra Pulitzers for Edward Humes's beat report of US military issues with night vision goggles and in 1996 for a survey of Ricardo Asch's hospitals for fertility. The newspaper started its OCN 24-hour news channel in 1990 with news about the county of Orange. In 2001 it was closed. Excelsior, a Spanish language weekly, was introduced in 1992 by Orange County Register Communications. The circulation of Excelsior in 2010 was 51,000.
