In April 1957, the newspaper first appeared with the assistance of the Chamber of Commerce of the Yucca Valley and was originally called The Desert Star. Four months later, the name has however altered since it has been found that in the past 40 years in neighboring Needles, California, a Desert Star newspaper had been released.
