Pakistan Assures Maldives Of Its Support To Address the development needs
Pakistan, which is facing financial difficulties, has offered assistance to the Maldives in meeting its development needs. According to reports, Pakistan Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq-Kakar spoke with Maldives President Muizzu on Thursday and expressed his commitment to the Maldives’ development. On this occasion, they both discussed mutual assistance and international collaboration.
Pakistan, which is in dire financial straits, recently asked China for a $2 billion loan. Furthermore, due to financial constraints, Pakistan is considering selling international airlines.
However, following recent disputes between India and the Maldives, India’s financial assistance to the Maldives has been reduced. The 770.90 crores of financial assistance announced last year have been reduced to 600 crores for the year 2024-25. Over the past few years, India has provided financial assistance to neighboring countries such as the Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in the areas of defense, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. Finally, we’ll have to wait and see to what extent Pakistan can help Maldives amid all these economic problems.
