On Thursday, India’s Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on this case. The Doha Court of Appeals confirmed the commutation of the death sentences of eight former naval personnel. All of them are employees of Dahra Global Defense Services Company, and arrested last year. According to the ministry, Vipul, India’s ambassador to Qatar was present in the court along with the family members of the former Navy officers and addressed the announced verdict. “We have taken note of the verdict rendered today by the Court of Appeal of Qatar in the Dahra Global case, in which the sentences were reduced.” The detailed judgement is awaited. “We are working closely with the legal team and family members to determine the next steps,” the Ministry said in a statement.
