About Gambia :The River bank of Gambia have been inhabited for many centuries. The Carthaginean named Hanno, referred to Gambia while writing about his voyage. The Gambia was mainly inhabited by 'wollofs' on the Northern bank and by 'Jolas' on the southern bank of the River. Later the region was invaded by the Fula. The Gambia is the smallest on the continent with the average width of 32 km.
